For Charities

Allocations 2007

UWR's rigorous allocations process is the cornerstone of our approach to charitable giving.

Our Screening Process:

  1. Initial eligibility screening.
  2. Review of the charity and its proposed project by the Allocations Committee.
  3. Interviews with the charity's managers.
  4. Financial review / audit.
  5. On-site visits to the charity by a Board member and an Allocations Committee member.
  6. Each grant must be approved by the Allocations Committee and full UWR Board.
  7. Monitoring of the programs during funding period.

Funding. In 2007, UW distributed almost $900,000 to 31 Russian charities (40 projects).

Ongoing Funding. UW is an ongoing and reliable funding source for charities, allowing them to plan and develop.

Support and Advice. UW staff and Board members work on a continuous basis with the charities we support. We help them solve problems, improve their management and plan new programs.

Experience. The UW allocations process helps charities to organize their financial reporting and teaches them grant-application skills.
